Volunteering with Bushwick Film Festival is a great opportunity for you to learn the inner workings of film festivals, gain some production experience, see fantastic films and network with film professionals.
There are current volunteer opportunities in the following are:
Works Closely with Director of Programming
Assists department with researching film submissions
Assists department with working with Festival Director to carefully select people to invite to be a member of our 2013 programming team and jury.
Assists department with acting as a filmmaker/film professionals liaison
Assists department with maintaining the online catalogue of all submitted films and comprehensive notes on each title viewed
Working closely with Director of social media and marketing
Write basic event announcements
Distributing marketing materials including flyers, posters
Help cultivate relations with members of the media, grassroots organizations, and other groups of interest.
Help maintain event calendar.
Help promote films, visiting filmmakers, and events.
Help manage content for the festival’s website, social media sites, and e-newsletter
Assists department with developing social media content.
Assists department with engaging in online conversations via Facebook and Twitter.
Assists department with pinpointing key group members and looking for ways to partner with them
Must be familiar with: google and facebook analytics, hootsuite and mailchimp.
Works with the Director of New Media
Work closely with the Director of New Media.
Work on specific short and long term projects as assigned by the Director.
Work closely on building a calendar of events and networking opportunities for the Director. Prefer a candidate who is outgoing and a self-starter and can be the eyes and ears for the Director at these events, incase the need arises.
Must be an idea person who can execute. We are looking for someone who comes to the table with his/her own long term goals.
Must be tech savvy. Should have knowledge and be able to problem solve technical issues.
Must be social media savvy and be active on Facebook, Twitter and other networks.
Should be detail oriented and be able to multi-task.
Should have an understanding and a strong interest in New Media and Transmedia storytelling.
Energetic and outgoing
Must possess a laptop computer
Strong communication skills – written and verbal
Strong organization skills
Thorough researching skills
Some familiarity with film and the independent filmmaking industry helpful
Familiarity with Microsoft Office
