Branded storytelling gives filmmakers and video producers the opportunity to work on creative projects without the restrictions of traditional marketing methods. The panel will explore how branded storytelling is transforming advertising, TV and film.
Clare Stein
Clare is the Director of Creative Strategy at ATTN:, a media network that starts conversations about issues that deserve attention. The ATTN: creative team works with brand partners to find their most credible issues and translate them into compelling social-first stories. Previously a Senior Creative Strategist at The New York Times’s T Brand Studio and Senior Copywriter at VaynerMedia, Clare approaches the evolving branded content landscape with an intuitive understanding of what audiences want to watch, engage with, and share. When she’s not busy dreaming up new campaigns, you can find Clare watching old movies or playing with her chow-chow mix.
Melanie Deziel
Melanie Deziel is an award-winning branded-content strategist, consultant, and speaker who travels the world educating marketing, sales, and editorial teams on branded-content best practices. Deziel started The Overlap League native ad newsletter, writes the New Media Navigator column for Inc, teaches social media for Syracuse University’s online Master’s program, and is on the board of the Native Advertising Institute. She is the former director of creative strategy for Time Inc. and was the first editor of branded content at The New York Times, where she wrote the sponsored content pieces that won the 2014 and 2015 Best Native Advertising Execution OMMA Award, including the acclaimed “Women Inmates” piece for Netflix. @mdeziel
Cameron Farrelly
Cameron Farrelly is the Executive Creative Director at VICE’s creative agency, Virtue Worldwide. Previously ECD at Universal Music Group, he worked with artists like Beiber, Katy and Taylor alongside brands like Red Bull, Coca-Cola and Google through long form, short form, and IRL content. Cameron launched UMG’s first ever creative agency BRING in Sydney, Australia after 10 years connecting brands with fans and bands in East London. As a partner of culture marketing agency Pd3, Cameron lead award-winning work with O2, Apple, Nike and pioneered partnerships with AEG, Live Nation, Arsenal FC and The Brit Awards.
Sammi Mendenhall, Casting Director & ProducerSammi started her career in
Sammi started her career in news where she learned the art of interviewing, producing, editing, and directing talent in the newsroom and in the field. During this time, she earned two Emmy nominations: one for writing and producing a PSA while at KING TV; and the other for undercover field production while at WSB-TV. For the past 18 years, while residing in New York City and Los Angeles, Sammi has conducted and directed on-camera interviews and auditions for various types of nonfiction television, theatrical productions, and branded content advertising. From celebrities, to hosts, to experts, chefs, dancers, nudists, military specialists, families, and even entire communities, Sammi has produced and delivered hundreds of people for on-air productions.
Natan Edelsburg
Natan is the Executive Vice President at Muck Rack, a digital PR and journalism platform, where he handles the business side of the company. He’s also the Senior Supervising Producer of The Shorty Awards honoring the best of social media. Natan is the company’s most tenured employee and has helped bring on customers that include MasterCard, NBCUniversal, BuzzFeed, Goldman Sachs and more. Natan is also the Executive Editor of Found Remote, a news site about the future of TV that he founded. Natan’s a frequent speaker on social media, PR, journalism and the Future of TV. He’s moderated panels or given presentations at SXSW, Dmexco, PRWeek, MIPTV, ad:tech, BroadcastAsia, Social Media Week, Collision, Web Summit, Digital Hollywood, PRSA Tri-State and more.
